A recent episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly program, "Mann Ki Baat," featured the commendable achievements of Varsha, an MTech graduate from Chamarajanagar district in Karnataka. Prime Minister Modi praised Varsha for her eco-friendly initiative, which involves creating various products from banana stems.
During the program, Modi expressed admiration for Varsha's venture, emphasizing that her initiative has served as a source of inspiration for many individuals. The young entrepreneur, hailing from Ummattur in Chamarajanagar, launched Akruthi Eco-Friendly Enterprises. Her enterprise utilizes banana stem fibers to manufacture a diverse range of products, including mats, mobile stands, pen stands, hats, and fridge covers.
Varsha shared that her motivation to embark on this eco-friendly journey came after hearing about a Tamil Nadu-based businessman, as highlighted by the Prime Minister during a previous episode of "Mann Ki Baat." This revelation occurred during the Covid lockdown, prompting Varsha to explore the potential of banana fibers for creating sustainable products.
Expressing her happiness at being recognized by the Prime Minister, Varsha stated that this acknowledgment has further motivated her to elevate her business to new heights. The initiative not only showcases Varsha's dedication to environmental sustainability but has also generated employment opportunities for others in the community.
